2014 New Year’s Resolution: Get Fit for Spring Break!

We asked Certified personal Trainer Ilia Gorelik for some advice:



1. Set realistic goals

If you are looking to get fit for Spring Break, you need to set yourself a realistic timeline, and stick to it. “Consistency is key. Get your butt in the gym every day. Even if you’re not feeling it, at least get on the treadmill for 10-15 minutes”.

2. Keep your portions small

“Small portions will keep your metabolism running all day long, which will keep your energy levels high”.

3. Drink lots of Water

“Make sure to drink a lot of water. It helps purify your system, burn more calories, and helps maintain the balance of your bodily fluids”.


1. Squats

“Squats are a full body exercise which will engage your core, back, and legs. If you want to burn fat and build muscle, you have to incorporate squats into your routine”. For the ladies: “If you want a more firm, rounded butt, squats are the way to go”.

2. Push-ups

“If you don’t have access to a gym, push-ups at home are a great way to get more definition in your chest, tri-ceps, shoulders and midsection”.

3. High Intensity Interval Training

“A combination of high intensity exercises such as burpies, push-ups, mountain climbers, and squat jumps can be a lot more effective than a generic treadmill cardio workout”.
